How about because he is a journalist and medical professional whose track record reveals a man dedicated to informing the public about health issues? Unlike so many 'documentarians' who make themselves the center of their movies out of ego, Dr. Gupta's pieces for CNN and his articles in Time Magazine are well respected, and he is a former White House adviser to Hilary Clinton, who knows a thing or two about universal health care.

It's so funny, people who dislike Moore would rater send kids to fight for oil than have healthcare for all Americans. Who is un American now? WAKE UP

Why am I questioning whether to believe Gupta or Moore? Michael Moore has played loosely with the facts, and that's fine for his medium. But he's made one hell of a point about the adverts on CNN. The CNN demographic is heavily medicated. Now that prescription drugs are so prevalent among CNN's ads, I wonder whether I believe a fairly distinguished medical journalist with . . . what do they call it - "America's Most Trusted News Source". These medical journalists used to be a lot more credible.

7-15-07 CNN posted a response page CNN Responds to Michael Moore where they admit to two factual errors. 1) Misquote of Sicko re: Cuba spends $25 . . . 2) not disclosing Paul Keckley's conflict of interest CNN RESPONDS: Moore is correct. Paul Keckley left Vanderbilt in late 2006. That is the affiliation Gupta referenced on "Larry King Live." Can't post the url most of CNN response is sour grapes about Michael Moore challenging their "fact check".

The "reality of those systems" is that PEOPLE ARE TAKEN CARE OF! I would rather pay more taxes and see that all citizens have access to health care. This makes life better for EVERYONE. I lived in Germany for years and never waited for health service. Shame on Gupta for needlessly discrediting Moore's film!

Except that many people die waiting to be "taken care of." Factor in the fact that the quality of health care is significantly worse in other countries, and you'll realize that most people are taken care of better here. Universal coverage is a nice idea, but it should be accomplished without ruining what is in fact the highest quality of care on the planet.

Gupta is completely right in this report. Moore is always full of lies, there was no conflict, and the only "error" was a minor one regarding Cuba's 3rd world system.

Alex I wonder where you get your information. I have NEVER heard of anyone "dying while waiting" in Germany. But I have seen my own Dad go from a walking man to a man in a wheelchair thanks to an over 7 month wait in the US to get an MRI! & HE'S INSURED!!

CNN "keeping (anyone) honest" is a joke. We're ranked 37 in health care. Hello? This is far from "the highest quality of care on the planet". Go to any western european country and note how much healthier the general population looks, including the aged. You don't see people without teeth, without care. Thank goodness!
