Description: A lot of my friends were being infected with HIV or were dying of AIDS back in 1992. This video art shows my frustration of knowing that a simple rubber could have saved their lives. Those were scary times in colombia, when we really had no access to any treatment and people were being horribly discriminated for having AIDS. The images on TV were full of references to sex and pleasure but no one was talking about condoms and prevention. Very frustrating to know that a condom was so easy to use anatomically but so hard to make it part of our minds. Performed and Directed by Santiago Echeverry, the photography was conceived by Xavier Pardessus. |
