MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-20 20:12:30 I apologize. My "open letter" was posted in 500 character increments, so my thoughts are scattered all over the page. Try following them chronologically if you can. I wasn't there. My sister's father, Jerome Starr, was killed in the accident. I was biking across country in the 1999 Twin Cities>Wisconsin>Chicago AIDS Ride & received the news on the 3rd day of a 6-day ride. __________________________________________________
zarubaconst ::: Favorites 2007-12-20 11:24:07 I understood on a tv program i was watching on this, was that the 3 men were working on something completely different then the operation that went wrong. Are you the voice in the video? Or where you at the site? I'm just curious in asking this because you seem quite passionate about this. I'll check back later. __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:52:19 Suddenly the crane fell and struck the basket like a baseball bat hits a ball, killing you and your two fellow men. It took FOURTEEN SECONDS for the three men to fall to their deaths!!! Next time you are holding a Mitsubishi product in your hands... Please stop and close your eyes and count to fourteen seconds. Know that you will never see your loved ones again, that they will NEVER see YOU again and will spend the REST of their LIVES never to see or hold or talk to you again... __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:51:17 Or his sexy new giant Mitsubishi plasma screen? It's hardly even a sexy product! NOTHING REALLY TO MISS, THEN!!! The next time you consider the purchase of a product by Mitsubishi -- PLEASE -- Please imagine you are either Jerome Starr, 52, of Milwaukee; Jeffrey Wischer, 40, of Waukesha, Wis.; or William DeGrave, 39, of Kimberly, Wis. You are in a basket hanging from another crane inside the bowl of the stadium, dangling more than 200 feet above the ground... __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:50:51 When I learned while biking from Minneapolis to Chicago in the July 1999 AIDS Ride that my sister's father had lost his life under Mitsubishi's careful watch... I didn't know what I could believe in anymore. To this day, my family has purchased not a single thing from Mitsubishi, and we have lived quite happily without their products in our lives. Besides... When was the last time you saw a hollywood movie and some sexy guy was showing off his hot new Mitsubishi stereo system? __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:50:06 When I was a boy, I remember my dad showed me the Mitsubishi logo and marveled at it, pointing out it's unique three-diamond-star to me and how you could turn it 120 degrees and it would look exactly the same... any way you turn or keep turning it... He instilled in me such a pride and confidence in their craftsmanship at such an early age. __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:49:48 I don't stop often enough to appreciate the sheer MAN POWER that made this great city of New York around me... and I certainly have watched my share of "We Built This City" episodes on the Discovery Channel. I know that this magnificient garden of skyscrapers didn't just shoot up out of the ground. Men gave their love and their lives so that I could ride an elevator to the top of the sky and look out over the entire world. They sacrificed en masse so that I could have this view! __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:49:33 Workers being subject to dangerous situations, most of which were being overlooked which is why since 1985, Mitsubishi was found guilty of 26 other violations of federal workplace standards by OSHA and paid fines totaling $9,922 in three inspections at different sites!!! Stories of men being killed and injured... Even in accidents sounding eerily similar to this one!!! __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:49:04 MITSUBISHI!!!! Makers of my very own Mitsubishi Montero 1991 LS SUV which I loved so much... Makers of the Mitsubishi television our family was so proud to own. Makers of just about anything else they can get men to make, and in as little time and for as little money as possible. Do the reasearch. Check it out for yourselves... It's all there in black and white. Countless failed inspections and fined paid by Mitsubishi for lives lost under contracts they held... __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:48:31 And yet despite all of our best technology and manpower advising against this... It was a "money issue" and they were forced to perform the impossible. Who's money? You're looking for a target for your anger? Understandable you should want to know the CAUSE of this triple homicide by blunt trauma and dismemberment... IT WAS MITSUBISHI, Ladies and Gentlemen!!! __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:47:58 The cranes had an emergency light that would signal if the machine did not feel it could successfully attempt the lift in the given conditions. EVEN THE SIGNAL WAS GOING BALLISTIC, DECLARING THAT THIS LIFT WAS ILL ADVISED!!! I've even heard very much talk about the very earth the stadium was to be built on... that the ground itself was not strong enough to support this operation!! __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:47:33 Can you imagine looking a man in the eyes as he is begging for his life, begging to see his only daughter grow up, get married, and have a family of her own... And telling him his fears are meaningless and that he must get up in that machine? Why couldn't the man who told him to do so have gone instead? You think it's so safe? Then YOU show everybody just how much you trust that crane in these high winds!!! __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 01:46:42 It's kinda silly to me that people would think this was part of some Bush coverup, but it just goes to show how deep our mistrust of this administration runs... and how "ready for anything" we are to add to his rap sheet. Here are the facts... Jerome Starr (the foreman) was not supposed to be up in the basket but when another walked off the job, he had no choice. You hear that he protested THREE times!! __________________________________________________
MisterBungee ::: Favorites 2007-12-19 00:51:47 One of the three men that died was actually my sister's father. As a matter of fact, I moved to New York very shortly thereafter and when mentioning the crane collapse to people, I took great comfort when they gasped in familiarity. I'll admit, more often than not people don't recall. But many people around the world witnessed on television how he left this world. One of the worst days of our lives. Haunts us nearly a decade later. __________________________________________________ |
