Description: Mrs. Hashmeya Muhsin Hussein is the President of the Electrical Utility Workers Union (General Federation of Iraqi Workers). She spoke, via interpreter Zein El-Amine, at a press conference on Capitol Hill, on June 5, 2007, called by Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH). She said that oil privatization, per the scheme of the Bush-Cheney administration, is tantamount to an "economic occupation of Iraq." Her comments were made in solidarity with the efforts of US Labor Against the War (USLAW); United for Peace & Justice (UFPJ); and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). These groups are supporting her, the Iraqi Oil Workers and their unions in opposing the ploy launched by the Bush-Cheney Gang to privatize most of Iraq's oil. Earlier in the day, a rally was held at the office of Bearing Point, near the Navy Yard. Bearing Point is the contractor, who the unions claim was "hired to do the job!" After speeches at that site, the demonstrators marched to the U.S. Capitol. The press conference was held on the Cannon's Terrace.
