Description:

[Originally posted on PoliticsTV.com in August 2006] Traveling through South Dakota on the PTV Roadtrip, we interviewed a few folks on the street about the upcoming voter referendum on the state's extremist anti-abortion ban. We spoke at length with one of the prominent voices in the public debate over the issue: Bill Fleming from Mount Blogmore. Bill walks us through the back-story of the abortion law in South Dakota and how the ban has changed the political landscape of South Dakota.

It's interesting to hear the effect that this bill is having. Some things I don't understand: Why is there so much talk about "belief" when it comes to when life begins? Science demonstrated long ago that life begins at conception - it is not an issue for belief.

the law is based on the fact that an aborted baby is a human being, therefore making it a murder. So in the case of rape (god forbid) is that baby not a human? Does it make it any less of a murder because of what the criminal adult did? Does an innocent baby have to pay a penalty of death for a criminal's crime? Please vote yes for 6

lol i love when people get mad at stuff like this it amuses me there is no such thing as right or wrong, its a perception of the world that varys from person to person, so this issue will never be solved but regardless it is none of your bussiness what other people do GOD is to judge, not you and to say otherwise contradics w/e your religion says because EVERY religion that has a god says GOD will judge NOT YOU

Stated perfect. I am wondering how many people in this state are pro-life and pro-death penalty. We just had our first lethal injection ever Wed.

so get over yourselfs, your not heros for diagreeing, and even if it is against your religion to abort, there is a separation of church and state, because there are many religons here, so YOU can go ahead and not abort, you cant force others to abide by your religon i personaly am ANTI ABORTION because there is a huge waiting list to adopt newborn infants

Maybe we should propose more extreme referendums like that. Apparently it makes people really think about the full impact of such laws.
