jeuneguitaristesuiss ::: Favorites How old is John Wiliams in this video? 07-06-08 18:27:00 _____________________________________________________
ZIROLAND ::: Favorites are you serious??? yepes is sloppy.... compare the first mov of aranjuez williams vs yepes...... it's very clear that yepes.... is off rhythm.... noisy.... and not as musical.... he's an embarrassment to guitarists... if other instrumentalists heard him they'd think... very sloppy.... very unmusical.... awkward........ just my honest opinion 07-06-19 01:29:42 _____________________________________________________
viktor10string ::: Favorites You make me laugh. Compare the 2nd and 3rd movements. Williams has neither the technical mastery of Yepes (the clarity and precision of extended, prestissimo trills and embellishments) - he cannot even play the final rasgueado chord of the cadenza as written and has to do it an octave lower - nor does he come close to having Yepes' musicality, sense of drama, colour, tempo rubato etc. 07-06-19 01:51:45 _____________________________________________________
viktor10string ::: Favorites I would agree with you that Yepes is "an embarrassment to guitarists". I think he caused guitarists great embarrassment considering how he totally blew all the heroes of the guitar out of the water, utterly surpassing them in technique and musical understanding. The fact is, it is mainly guitarists who have such opinions like you; non-guitarist musicians held Yepes in far higher esteem than other guitarists. 07-06-19 01:59:21 _____________________________________________________
07-07-04 01:08:11 _____________________________________________________
ulyssesjj ::: Favorites I agree Yepes is in a camp with some other irritating Spanish/Catalan artists who through their achievements spoiled things for so many. Casals springs to mind immediately... 07-07-10 12:38:07 _____________________________________________________
randomcitizen ::: Favorites I really dislike this performation. I mean that, given than John Williams is playing I expected something a lot better, al least with more "soul". To me, this is way behind Paco de Lucia's perfomance. 07-07-12 21:21:38 _____________________________________________________
gustavopipiu ::: Favorites magnifico! 07-07-20 02:16:22 _____________________________________________________ |
